CASTLE OF HORRORS

Located in Englewood, Illinois, Holmes’ “castle” served as a hotel for visitors of the nearby 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. Unknown to guests, Holmes designed the building for his racket of selling murder victims’ skeletons. Throughout the second & third floors, investigators found deadly vaults, asphyxiating gas pipes, and greased chutes. Quicklime vats, a bloody dissection table, and piles of human bones were discovered in the basement...

CRIMINAL MASTERMIND

Holmes was eventually caught over a life insurance scam, for which an accomplice and his children paid the ultimate price. His trial was deemed “Trial of the Century.” Among his ploys and theatrics, Holmes wrote a book professing his innocence. Hundreds may have perished at the “Castle of 63rd Street,” but no one will ever know, except the man who made grisly crime his life... H.H. Holmes.
